No matter what variety of mint you are using, most mints are pretty interchangeable when it comes to magic. Mint, also known as Mentha, is a genus of plants in the Lamiaceae family. The mint family includes around 15-20 species of plants, and there are over 600 types of Mentha.
Some of the more notable species of mint are spearmint, peppermint, apple mint, chocolate mint, apple mint and catnip. My personal favourite is the “Old fashion” mint otherwise known as Mojito mint. It’s also the mint that is sold under our herbs category in the apothecary.
Many of the herbs used for cooking are in the Lamiaceae family such as Basil, Lemon Balm and Catnip, but we are only going to talk about common mints like peppermint, spearmint and such.
