Ever since I stepped into the world of witchcraft, the allure of how to make moon water has beckoned. Customers frequently ask if I sell this enchanted elixir, but here’s the thing; I believe moon water shouldn’t be a commercial product.

Every witch should personally craft it.

By making your own moon water, you pour your unique energy and magic into the process. It’s more than just water; it’s an intimate dance between you and the moon, capturing whispered secrets and mysterious lunar energy.

In my practice, moon water strengthens my rituals and amplifies intentions. Anyway, let’s jump into how easy it is to set up and it shouldn’t be a scary or daunting experience.

Components Needed

  • A sliver, crystal or clear glass jar or bowl
  • Spring water, rain water or purified water (I personally use reverse osmosis) water
  • A place outside or window where the moonlight can shine directly onto your vessel

And that’s it! These are the bare basics required. You can “layer” the magic by adding a few more things like water safe crystals, herbs, other objects like talismans, jewellery and written words.

Do not put the written words into the water.

How to Make Moon Water

  1. Preparation: Clean your container thoroughly, ensuring it’s free from any dust/residue. If you have any crystals or herbs you’d like to use, cleanse them as well.

  2. Filling the Container: Fill the container with your chosen water. Add crystals at this point.

  3. Setting Intentions: Before placing your water in the moonlight, it’s essential to set your intentions. What do you want the water to help you with? Holding the container, close your eyes, and visualise your goal. Alternatively, write your intention on a piece of spell paper and place (or magically fold) it under the vessel.

  4. Placement: Place the container in a spot where it will get maximum exposure to the full moon’s light. This could be on a windowsill, balcony, garden, or any other open space.

  5. Let It Charge: Leave the water out overnight to absorb the moon’s energy. Some practitioners also choose to leave it out from dusk until dawn. Some like to make sure that no sunlight touches the water as it is then seen as tainted.

  6. Storing the Moon Water: The next morning (preferably before the sun rises), retrieve your container. Seal it in your favourite bottle and store it in a cool, dark place.

Avoid direct sunlight, as it can diminish the moon’s energy that the water has absorbed.

Why Make Moon Water?

Embarking on the path of the Craft, I quickly recognised the importance of making moon water. There’s an unmatched power in creating something simple, infusing it with your intentions and energy.

The truth is, moon water isn’t just a commodity to be bought. It’s an experience, a ritual, and a bond forged between you and the cosmos. The beauty of it lies in its simplicity. You don’t need extensive knowledge or specialised tools; you just need the moon, water, and your intention.

So easy, in fact, that I urge you not to buy it from someone else. When you purchase moon water, you miss out on the profound personal connection that comes from crafting it yourself.

So venture forth and harness the energy of the Full Moon.
